Dr. S.A. Welch has degrees in both Accounting (University of Central Florida) and Communication Studies (Kent State University). Dr. Welch enjoys showing students both the logic of statements and the multiple ways of viewing situations. For Dr. Welch, these help her accomplish her long-term view of student development from the classroom to the board room. She is a member of the International Listening Association (ILA); the National Communication Association (NCA); and Beta Alpha Psi. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Listening, Communication Research Reports, Communication Quarterly, Communication Education, The Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice, and The Quarterly Review of Distance Education. During her time at UW-Whitewater, Dr. Welch has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate classes, and she has supervised over a dozen graduate-level theses or Applied Communication Project.
