Chair, Department of Biological Sciences, 2007-2010, 2010-2013

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO),1998 to 2004; Spring 2012

Professor teaching Introductory Biology I, Introduction to Epidemiology, Science of Forensic Analysis, and Biological Foundations.  Previous teaching includes Microbiology (Bacteriology), Ecology and Society, Molecular Biology, Introduction to Genetics, Introduction to Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, Biology of Aging, Biology of Women, School Health.

Current scholarly activity includes development of education modules. Previous research interests included the study of the effects of pharmaceuticals on the release of the reproductive hormone LHRH, methylotrophy by the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides, sources of contamination in microbreweries, innovative teaching techniques, and inclusion of technology in general science courses. Her laboratory work used microscopy, transposon mutagenesis, and other molecular biology techniques to examine the effects of individual mutations on viability and success of R. sphaeroides.
