Ruth Tallman works in applied ethics, with a focus on biomedical ethics. She is currently working in the areas of physician-patient relationships and patient noncompliance. Her article, "Self-Governed Agency: A Feminist Approach to Patient Noncompliance," is forthcoming in the International Journal of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics.

She firmly believes that philosophy is for everyone, and to that end she writes in the area of popular culture and philosophy, her most recent being a chapter in House of Cards and Philosophy. She was the script writer for the webseries Crash Course Philosophy.
