Renée Melton received her MFA in Visual Communications from Northern Illinois University and BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. Prior to joining the faculty at University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 2004, Melton practiced as a design director and has over 15 years experience working exclusively in the advertising industry with clients on an international level. Achievements include: Best of Show, Best of Print, and Gold ADDY® Awards from the American Advertising Federation; being named an award winner in STEP Inside Design's Design 100 Awards, and publication in Graphic Design USA's Design Awards. Among Melton's awards are two national ADDYs. Her work has been published in Design: Logo, An Exploration of Marvelous Marks, Insightful Essays, and Revealing Reviews; Logo Lounge 8: International Identities by Leading Designers; Logo Lounge 7: International Identities by Leading Designers; Communication Arts; How Magazine; Step Inside Design; Best of Brochure Design; The Great Design Show; Graphic Design USA; and New Generation Korea International Exhibition of Graphic Design. Melton's work has been recognized by numerous industry organizations, including the American Advertising Federation, American Institute of Graphic Arts, Bank Marketing Association, Women in Communications, and Beckett Paper Company.
