Dr. Lindell joined the faculty of UW-Whitewater in 2017 after receiving her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Missouri, and B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Valparaiso University in northwestern Indiana. Dr. Lindell’s research interests include adolescent and emerging adult development, with a particular focus on family processes and the role of parents and siblings in promoting positive development. Specifically, Dr. Lindell has conducted research on parent-child and sibling relationship quality, technology-mediated communication, self-disclosure, conflict, and parental control, as well as the development of autonomy, vocational identity, emotional adjustment, academic self-efficacy, sexuality, and body image. Dr. Lindell’s current research focuses on the intersection between family relationships and adjustment in emotional and academic domains among college students, especially first-generation students.
