Md Showaib Sarker, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance and Business Law, College of Business and Economics (CoBE), at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His research focuses on the determinants and mechanisms through which corporate executives shape firm policies, with work spanning corporate misconduct, labor investment efficiency, debt contracting and credit risk, innovation, corporate social responsibility, and firm responses to climate, policy, and biodiversity risk. A second strand of his work applies machine learning, natural language processing, and large language models to financial disclosures. His research has appeared in the Journal of Corporate Finance, the International Review of Financial Analysis, and Finance Research Letters, and has been presented at the Financial Management Association (FMA), Southern Finance Association (SFA), and Southwestern Finance Association annual meetings (SWFA), among other national and international venues. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, an M.Sc. in Statistics from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a B.Sc. in Statistics from the University of Dhaka.

Dr. Sarker teaches corporate finance, business finance, and real estate, integrating artificial intelligence tools into his courses and bringing industry practitioners into the classroom. Beyond the classroom, he supports student organizations including the Real Estate Club and the Financial Management Association, serves on the Faculty Senate and the University Diversity Curriculum Committee, and judges the regional Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl for high school students.
