ABOUT

Dr. Gruetzmacher teaches industrial hygiene and safety courses for the department.  He works full time at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (UW Madison) for the OSHA Onsite Consultation Program (WisCon) as an industrial hygienist in field practice.  In that role, he conducts exposure assessments, evaluates regulatory compliance, assists with control measures, and delivers training.  He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

Lead industrial hygienist for ergonomic, non-ionizing radiation, and exposure assessment activity. Some illness outbreak investigations included the exposure assessment of metalworking fluids for study of hypersensitivity pneumonitis in a machining operation, the exposure assessments associated with spread of pneumococcal pneumonia in an assembly plant, and the exposure assessment of microwave radiation in a food processing facility. Emergency response activities included hazardous materials participation in exercises, and the procurement and deployment of portable satellite internet connectivity for hazmat teams with the fixed facilities of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.
